Ingredients company Acatris Belgium, a division of the Dutch Royal
Schouten group, and FMC BioPolymer announced this week as from 1
January 2003 Acatris will be the exclusive distributor in the
Benelux for the polymer products of FMC Biopolymer. The move will
expand the Acatris' product portfolio for food ingredients.

The move will expand the Acatris' product portfolio for food ingredients.

FMC BioPolymer, a supplier of ingredients and technologies to the food industry, offers a range of products for texture, structure and stabilisation. The distribution agreement extends to the branded products Protanal alginates, Avicel microcrystalline cellulose as well as Lactarin, Gelcarin, Lactogel and Viscarin carrageenans.

Geert Feys, Acatris sales manager said: "The quality of FMC's products meet the high standards that we follow at Acatris. We are quite happy that we are able to add their products to our range of products."

US company FMC BioPolymer has supplied ingredients and technologies to the food industry for over 60 years. Its functional ingredients are largely based on alginate, carrageenan and microcrystalline cellulose.

Ingredients can be use to improve the heat and freeze-thaw stable properties of baked goods, fruit fillings and frozen desserts, to provide suspending properties to beverages and emulsions, and to impart flow characteristics, structures and textures to sauces, confections, and flavoured dessert gels.

The product portfolio of Acatris includes branded ingredients such as Pectacon, SoyLife and FenuLife.
