Kansas Wheat Commission administrator David Frey has accepted a position with the Grain Industry Alliance (GIA) in Afghanistan.
The GIA is a non-profit organization closely associated with the American Institute of Baking and Kansas State University Department of Grain Science and Industry.
The GIA is working in Afghanistan to help farmers increase profits from food and coarse grain crops as an alternative to production of poppies, the base for illegal opium that reportedly is nine times more lucrative than rice or wheat.
German fragrance and flavor firm Symrise has appointed Gerold Linzbach as CEO, replacing James D. Forman.

She will be based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
