It's all change at the top at Archers Daniel Midland, while Con
Agra has announced several hundred job cuts.

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) has made a number of high-profile personnel changes, including the appointment of Dennis Riddle as president of ADM Corn Processing.

Riddle previously served as division senior vice-president of Sweeteners & Starch in the ADM Corn Processing division.

Meanwhile, Mark Kolkhorst has been named president of ADM's Specialty Feed Ingredients, while Tedd Kruse has been named vice-president of ADM's North American Food Oils.

Mike Livergood has been named vice-president - Global Oleo Chemicals, Peter Reimers has been named general manager - European Oleo Chemicals while J. Kevin Burgard has been named president - Specialty Food Ingredients.

The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) has named new chairmen to its Industry Affairs and Government Affairs councils.

Rick Wolford, chairman, president and CEO of Del Monte Foods, has been selected to serve as chairman of the Industry Affairs Council (IAC), while Doug Conant, president and CEO of Campbell Soup Company, was named the new chairman of the GMA Government Affairs Council (GAC).

"From addressing legislative and regulatory challenges to maximizing business performance and technological advances, Rick and Doug have the leadership skills necessary to help advance GMA's priority projects," said Richard Lenny, chairman, president and CEO of The Hershey Company, and incoming GMA board chairman.

"I look forward to working with each of them as the new chairmen of our top councils."

Nutritional ingredients firm Herbalife (HLF) has appointed Marcelo Zalcberg as operations director of Herbalife Brazil with responsibility for distributor operations, logistics, regulatory affairs and local manufacturing.

Herbalife products are sold in 60 countries through a network of more than one million independent distributors.

In 2004, the company had net sales of $1.3 billion.

Nutritional food ingredients supplier VitaCube Systems has appointed Doug Ridley as president of the company.

Ridley was previously president of Quorum International, a network marketing organization that reported a second-year net pretax profit of nearly $15 million.

Glanbia has elected Michael Walsh to succeed Tom Corcoran as chairman of the Irish ingredients company.

Walsh has been vice chairman of the board since 1996, and is also a director of the Irish Co-operative Organisation Society and the Irish Dairy Board Co-operative.

The firm has also elected Victor Quinlan as vice chairman of the board and vice chairman of Glanbia Co-operative Society.

Three new non-executive directors have also been appointed: Paul Haran, Matthew Merrick and Michael Keane.

And finally, ConAgra Foods is planning job cuts after fourth quarter earnings for the company's fiscal 2005 were predicted to be lower than expected.

The company is in the process of eliminating several hundred salaried jobs across the organization.

The company says that this restructuring will be completed by the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2006, which ends August 2005.
