Independent flavor specialist Treatt has introduced Blueberry
Treattarome 9840 to its expanding range of 100 per cent natural,
FTNF(From The Named Food) flavor ingredients.

Wholly distilled from top grade, freshly cultivated berries, the company claims that Blueberry Treattarome 9840 delivers a well-rounded, authentic and ripe blueberry flavor with a floral top note anda creamy, fruity finish to many food and drink systems.

Derived from the native American fruit (Vaccinium Corymbosum), Blueberry Treattarome 9840 is produced within ten minutes of the fruit being processed. To capture the maximum flavor and retain the freshness of the berry, Treatt uses specialized low temperature distillation technology.

Treatt says that the ingredient works well either as a sole flavoring or as an enhancer to existing flavor systems. For example, at 0.1 per cent, it provides an intense blueberry character with fresh, floral and fruity top notes.

At 0.01 per cent, it can also add a fruity berry character to fruit punches and other mixed drinks.

The clear appearance and water solubility of Blueberry Treattarome 9840 make it a versatile flavor ingredient, suitable for use in dairy products, soft drinks, fruit juices, flavored waters, teas and alcoholic beverages.

Containing high levels of linalool, gernaiol and beta ionone, the distillate is also an easy way to add a fruity flavor to tea. BlueberryTreattarome 9840 offers manufacturers a clean label declaration.

Super fruits such as blueberries could prove to be the success story of 2006, according to Innova Market Insights. The analyst says that the increasing popularity of berries and berry flavours in recent years is now extending to other less well-known super fruits. Berry flavours have been popular for a number of years, with initial interest in summer fruits, such as strawberries and raspberries. This has gradually given way to fruits marketed more strongly on a health platform, such as cranberries and blueberries.

Blueberry Treattarome 9840 complements Treatt's rapidly expanding selection of aqueous, FTNF distillates. Recent offerings include Mango Treattarome 9830 and Sugar Treattarome 9807.

Treatt is an independent ingredients supplier to the flavorand fragrance industries. It manufactures and supplies a vast inventory of products, including essential oils and their natural fractions, and aromatic chemicals.
