Bunge acquires edible oils packaging business

Mid-Atlantic packages oils, shortenings, margarines, and butter blends – as well as rehydrated garlic and spice products – for distribution in the northeastern United States for use in bakery, food processing and foodservice. Vice president and general manager of Bunge Oils Rodney Perry said: "Purchasing Mid-Atlantic ’s assets enables Bunge to increase our oil and shortening packaging capacity in the Northeastern corrid or, which is the country ’s largest edible oil market. Mid-Atlantic’s location also allows Bunge to more effectively serve our existing customers in this region and reach new customers." Bunge North America also said that it intends to retain “the majority” of Mid-Atlantic’s employees.

Bunge North America has acquired the assets of New Jersey-based Mid-Atlantic Vegetable Oils, enabling it to gain better access to edible oil markets in the northeast.
