International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has announced that its chairman and chief executive officer Robert Amen has resigned, effective September 30.

Amen will be replaced by Douglas Tough, an IFF board member and CEO and managing director of Ansell Limited, who will take over as non-executive chairman on October 1, IFF said. He is due to assume the role of chairman and CEO when his current contract expires, “no later than the end of first quarter 2010”.

Lead director of IFF Arthur Martinez said, “We are very pleased that Doug has agreed to assume the role of Chairman and CEO. Doug is a veteran executive who has solid knowledge of IFF and extensive leadership experience in the consumer products space. He will be a tremendous asset to our company as we continue to execute on our growth strategy, build on our strong fundamentals and deliver profitable, sustainable growth.”
