The CAC said that distribution of nutritional information is crucial for encouraging demand of avocados, and it often works with independent third parties, including Oldways, the non-profit organization behind the Mediterranean Diet Pyramid. Avocados are featured as a component of the Mediterranean Diet, and the CAC said that olive oil and artichokes also fit well with the diet’s criteria.
The co-marketing program features on-pack coupons and usage ideas, a free recipe booklet offer, and online and social media marketing.
“Co-marketing with two brands that fit synergistically with California avocados and the Med Diet theme helps us spread consumption-driving avocado nutrition messages,” said Jan DeLyser, CAC’s vice president of marketing.
