Kerry Group to acquire Cargill's global flavors business

Ingredients, flavors and consumer foods giant Kerry Group has struck a $230m deal to acquire Cargill's global flavors business.

The deal – which is subject to regulatory approval and expected to complete by the year-end - would broaden Kerry’s capabilities across all food and beverage end-use-markets and boost its presence in in emerging markets, said the firm.

Kerry Group is a leading global food ingredients and flavors supplier, and a major manufacturer of consumer foods in the UK and Ireland. In North America, it specializes in customized sweet ingredients serving the cereal, frozen dessert, functional foods, snack, confectionery, bakery and nutritional markets.

With annual sales of around $200m, Cargill Flavor Systems has particular strengths in beverage and dairy applications, with additional capabilities in cheese-based savory flavors. It employs 700 people in the US, Puerto-Rico, Mexico, Brazil, France, the UK, South Africa, India, Malaysia and China, supported by a network of sales representative offices in 12 other countries.
