Unilever has struck a $325m deal to sell its Culver Specialty Brands division to B&G Foods.

The division, which includes Mrs Dash salt-free seasoning blends, Molly McButter flavored sprinkles, Sugar Twin sugar substitute and Bakers Joy baking spray, was acquired by Unilever as part of The Alberto Culver Company, and generated revenue of approximately $90m in the year to September 30.

As all of the above products are manufactured at third-party facilities, no Unilever-owned plants are affected by the transaction, said Unilever, which said the deal was consistent with its “continued focus on brands with global potential in core categories”.

B&G, which sells and distributes ambient foods such as hot cereals, fruit spreads and canned goods across the US and Canada, said it will fund the deal with additional debt.
