Packaging firm recalls sausages over plastic contamination fears
US food safety officials are coordinating with a packaging company in the recall of more than 25,000 pounds of chicken apple sausage products over fears they may contain pieces of plastic.

Yoakum, Texas-based Eddy Packing Co. is recalling approximately 26,136 pounds of Artisan Fresh All Natural Chicken and Apple Sausages after receiving customer complaints about finding pieces of plastic in products, according to a US Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) statement.

One pound, three to a pack Artisan Fresh All Natural Chicken and Apple Sausages and 36 pound cases containing 3 pound packages of the product will be recalled under the warning.

“The problem was discovered as a result of consumer complaints about finding pieces of plastic in the product. FSIS and the company have received no reports of injury or illness at this time,” said the FSIS statement.
