Minnesota-based World Food Processing has acquired Kerry Flavors’ soy protein isolate manufacturing facility, as it looks to expand its non-GMO and organic soy capacity in the face of growing demand, the company has said.

World Food said that it had upgraded the 5,000 metric tonne-capacity plant, and has begun producing its own product line. The company will offer the non-GMO and organic hexane-free soy protein isolates alongside conventional non-GMO soy protein isolates, the company said.

Founder and CEO of World Food Processing Jerry Lorenzen said in a statement: “World Food Processing has enjoyed a long-term business relationship with Kerry Flavors and Ingredients, supplying the soybean division with whole soybeans for the past 9 years. The acquisition of the Kerry soy protein isolate plant is especially exciting because it puts the final link of the World Food closed-loop system in place positioning us to supply safe and pure organic and non-GMO soy food ingredients.”

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
