Corn Products International shareholders have approved changing the company’s name to Ingredion, intended to better reflect its expanded ingredient portfolio, particularly since the acquisition of National Starch in 2010.

The company said that the name change would begin with business units in the United States in early June, with the rest of North America to follow later in 2012. Other countries and regions will transition to the new name by the end of 2013, it said.

Company chairman, president and CEO Ilene Gordon said: “We are thrilled to face the marketplace with a name that says ‘ingredient solutions… We will continue to build our expertise and ingredient solutions portfolio to help our customers address trends and compete better around the world.”
