Swiss chocolatier Lindt & Sprungli USA has partnered with the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to collaborate on chocolate innovation, sponsoring education sessions, donating chocolate, and launching a student scholarship contest.

CIA has three US campuses in Hyde Park, NY, St. Helena, CA, and San Antonio, TX. In a scholarship competition this summer, CIA students will be invited to create recipes for a new dark chocolate bar, with entries to be reviewed by a judging panel of CIA chef instructors and representatives from Lindt.

The competition is among several initiatives under the partnership, including a donation of nearly 2,000 lbs of chocolate for use in the educational curriculum, hosting guest lectures, and sponsoring Food Enthusiast Dessert Boot Camps at each of the CIA campuses through March 2013.

Dean of baking and pastry arts for the CIA and certified master baker Tom Vaccaro said in a statement: "At the CIA, our expert faculty constantly emphasizes the importance of high-quality ingredients and craftsmanship. Lindt is equally as passionate about these qualities; therefore, we are thrilled to elevate the chocolate experience at our Institute through this partnership."
