DDW acquires Danisco food colorings from DuPont
D.D. Williamson (DDW) has acquired the food coloring product line and related processing equipment from Danisco USA Inc., which had been part of DuPont Nutrition & Health since 2011. Financial terms of this transaction were not disclosed.

The transaction broadens DDW’s portfolio of natural color solutions for customers and positions DDW as the largest manufacturer of annatto-based food colorings in North America.

The Danisco colors product line consists primarily of carotenoid colorings and blends in the yellow to orange spectrum. They are supplied to the dairy, dessert, bakery/snack, culinary, flavor, beverage and other industry sectors.

Once equipment and inventory are transferred from the DuPont plant in Madison, WI, manufacturing will consolidate at DDW’s GFSI-certified operation in Port Washington, WI, to supply both domestic and export customers.

“This acquisition allows DDW to strengthen its existing offerings for customers around the world,” said Ted Nixon, chairman and CEO. “The larger toolkit will improve DDW’s ability to develop unique color solutions for applications, one customer at a time, and will extend our manufacturing expertise in Wisconsin.”
