Powerful Yogurt has officially launched what it claims is the first high-protein drink made with a Greek yogurt base.

US shipments of Powerful Yogurt Drink - available in blueberry acai, chocolate, and vanilla maple variations - are scheduled to begin "immediately," Miami-based Powerful Yogurt announced yesterday.

Each 12oz (335ml) bottle of Powerful Yogurt Drink contains 20g of protein, no artificial flavors or sweeteners, no preservatives, and is shelf stable for 12 months.

DairyReporter.com reported exclusively in August that Powerful Yogurt had begun responding to retailer requests for samples ahead of a planned fall 2014 launch.

Four months on, Powerful Yogurt Drink is set to hit shelves in single-serve 12oz bottles and four packs.

Commenting, Carlos Ramirez, founder and CEO, Powerful Yogurt said the launch comes at a time when "consumers are demanding nothing but 100 natural, clean products."

"The Powerful Yogurt Drink is a response to those demands, and we're proud to be a company fuelling the shift to natural, high performance products," said Ramirez.

"Gone are the days of active people purchasing products with long and unpronounceable ingredient lists," he added.
