'Made with Pulses' seal unveiled at the IFT show

A new ‘Made with Pulses’ logo has been unveiled at the IFT show in a bid to help food and beverage manufacturers flag up their use of beans, dry peas, lentils and chickpeas – which are gaining traction as awareness grows of their nutrition and sustainability credentials.

The first products featuring the new seal – developed by The Global Pulse Confederation - are expected to hit shelves before the end of the year, said the confederation, which says it provides shoppers with “an easy way to identify products that are good for people and good for the planet."

To carry the logo, dry peas, lentils and chickpeas must be one of the top five ingredients by weight, and account for at least 5% of the whole formulation by weight.

Companies that have already signed on to use the Pulse Brand include Princes Food and Drink Group​, JM Grain​, AGT Food and Ingredients​ and Floating Leaf Fine Foods​.
