Conagra Brands to acquire Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP

The deal is expected to close by the end of the calendar year, said Conagra CEO Sean Connolly, who said the deal represented “ another important step in our ongoing plan to modernize our portfolio and accelerate growth.” He added: " The Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP business is a leader in the fast-growing, better-for-you snacking segment. It will be a great complement to our growing snack business ." Founded by husband and wife entrepreneurs Dan and Angie Bastian in 2001, Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP has a presence in the US Canada, South Korea, Peru, the Caribbean and Mexico. "I love Conagra's vision of being the most-energized, highest-impact culture in food. We see Conagra as a perfect fit for the Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP brand ," said Angie Bastian. Asked about what the deal would mean for staffing and production at Angie's, a Conagra spokesman said: " At this point we have signed an agreement but the deal needs to be finalized before we can discuss any specifics."

Conagra Brands has struck a deal to acquire ready-to-eat popcorn maker Angie's Artisan Treats, the maker of Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP, from private equity firm TPG Growth for an undisclosed sum.
