Product tampering sparks mass recall for Monogram Meat Snacks
US-based meat manufacturer Monogram Meat Snacks has recalled 191,928 lb of its ready-to-eat pork sausages across retailers nationwide, due to concerns over product contamination.
Monogram Meat Snacks revealed that the recall was initiated after concerns over tampering during the production process.
The items recalled were produced and packaged for Duke’s Meat Corporation, which is owned by Conagra Brands.

- 5oz plastic pouches of Duke’s Hickory Peach BBQ Smoked Shorty Sausages – use-by dates from 16 January 2019 to 27 January 2020
- 5oz plastic pouches of Duke’s Hot & Spicy Smoked Shorty Sausages – use-by dates from 16 January 2020 to 3 February 2020
- 16oz & 5oz plastic pouches of Duke’s Original Recipe Smoked Shorty Sausages – use-by dates from 11 January 2020 to 27 February 2020 and 14 February 2020 to 29 February 2020 respectively.
- 5oz plastic pouches of Duke’s Cajun Style Andouille Smoked Shorty Sausages – use-by dates from 10 January 2020 to 13 February 2020
- 5oz plastic pouches of Duke’s Hatch Green Chile Smoked Shorty Sausages – use-by dates from 13 January 2020 to 3 February 2020
- 5oz plastic pouches of Duke’s Original Recipe Smoked Shorty Sausages – use-by dates from 17 February 2020 to 1 March 2020
- 5oz plastic pouches of Duke’s Hot & Spicy Smoked Shorty Sausages – use-by dates from 16 January 2020 to 24 February 2020
The recall was issued by the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS), which said there had been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
FSIS categorised the recall as a high health risk and urged anyone who had purchased the recalled products not to consume them and to return them to the point of purchase or throw them away.
