HelloFresh leases new distribution centers in Georgia and Texas as Q2 US revenues surge 114% YoY
Meal kit co HelloFresh has announced the leasing of new distribution centers in Newnan, Georgia and Irving, Texas to meet growing demand as consumers stay home during the pandemic.

The 210,000 sq ft facility in Georgia is HelloFresh’s first in the Southeast and will begin operating in the third quarter of 2020, scaling throughout the remainder of the year. The nearly 375,000sq ft distribution center in Irving, Texas - HelloFresh’s largest facility to date - will include office space, cold storage, packing and shipping areas.

Founded in Berlin in November 2011, HelloFresh went public on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in November 2017. The world’s leading meal kit company, it now operates in the US, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Australia, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand, France, Sweden and Denmark.

In the three months to June 30, 2020, active customers in the US surged 47% year on year to 1.98 million, while average order value increased by 18%. US revenues rose 114.3% to €525.9m ($628.2m), said the company.

“The implementation of lock-down measures and the closure of restaurants in most of our major markets have increased customer demand for home-cooked meals during that period. Revenue growth has been driven by (i) a year on year increase in active customers…(ii) an increase in average order value due to lower price incentives granted to customers and customers ordering bigger boxes and (iii) a meaningful increase in average orders per customer, especially in our US segment.”
