Sensient Technologies has acquired the assets of New Jersey-based Flavor Solutions, a custom product and flavor development company serving the food, beverage, and nutraceutical industries. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sensient, a global manufacturer and marketer of colors, flavors, and specialty ingredients, develops specialized food and beverage product solutions for customers ranging in size from small entrepreneurial businesses to international CPG manufacturers.

In its Q1 2021 earnings call, Sensient chairman, president, and CEO, Paul Manning noted how its flavor & extracts business has continued to post strong revenue growth (+9% in Q1 2021 compared to Q1 2020) with a strong showing from its savory business, which will be a key focus for the business moving forward, said Manning.

The recent acquisition of Flavor Solutions will add to the company's customer base and technical expertise in product formulation, commented Manning.

The acquisition of this business will allow Sensient to expand its flavor portfolio and add key technologies to strengthen its technical solution capabilities," he said.

As a result of the acquisition, Sensient will expand its traditional flavor offerings as well as savory reaction flavors, natural shelf-life extender technologies, and additional sweetness enhancing and salt reduction taste-modulation technology platforms.

A few of Flavor Solutions' key product offerings include its proprietary salt replacement product, LESS; its sweetening solution SweeTech; and a proprietary marinade system called Tenderseal which extends shelf life and product quality in meat and seafood applications.
