The beauty and wellness categories are continuing to merge, and it’s becoming a massive sector in terms of innovation. According to Nielsen NIQ global consumer data from June, 50% of consumers said that following a regular self-care routine was more important to them now than it was five years ago. It also added that the Wellness & Ritual sector “expands the beauty opportunity by 64%.” One blossoming area of innovation within this beauty-wellness space is beauty drinks designed to give glowing, more youthful-looking skin. When Pinterest released its biannual Trends Report back in June, the social media channel highlighted that skincare drinks were a category to watch – Pinterest searches for ‘skincare drinks’ were up by +176%, while searches for ‘natural drinks for glowing skin’ were up by +148%. Here we outline some of the latest launches to hit the market to meet the ever-growing demand in the beauty drinks space. A ready-to-drink protein shake designed to optimize nutrition and glowing skin. The 150-calorie shake offers 27 grams of protein and 2,500mg of collagen per serving, and claims to support muscle health, as well as healthy hair, skin, joints, and nails. It comes in two flavors: Iced Latte and White Chocolate & Iced Latte. This Korean creation has been popular with Korean, Japanese, and Chinese consumers and has recently launched into Western markets. Dot.Tea is a green apple-flavored powdered drink that must be mixed with 500ml of water. It claims to offer beauty and weight loss benefits, and its key ingredient, Applephenon, is a polyphenol-rich extract derived from unripe green apples. The functional ingredient has been recognized by Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its fat-reducing benefits and was shown to reduce visceral and total abdominal fat in adults in a 12-week clinical study, said Dot.Tea. Puig-owned luxury skincare brand Dr. Barbara Sturm teamed up with drinks company Pressed Juice to create this berry-based, juicy beauty drink. It is said to include 400% of your daily vitamin C and 100% of biotin to promote healthy skin from within and naturally improve skin glow and radiance. It also features aloe vera and a probiotic power with two billion CFUs of live probiotics to support gut health. According to the brand, bamboo water is a vitamin-rich drink that has been used for centuries as a natural remedy to boost collagen, enhance immunity, and detoxify the body. It’s also an eco-friendly ingredient option, as bamboo grows quickly and doesn’t require much water. Juno Bamboo has launched the low-sugar, low-calorie drink in three flavors: Juicy Mango, Zesty Yuzu, and Passion Fruit. British wellness drinks brand Catalyse focuses on clinically supported functional drinks. Its beauty offering, Mizu Beauty Blend, provides biotin, zinc and retinol to offer hair, skin and nails a boost, plus hyaluronic acid, in a ginger and hibiscus flavoured ready-to-drink format.
