Argentina authorities suspend two pork refrigerators

The Secretary of the Government of Agribusiness found during inspections that both plants were operating without complying with current Argentina regulations. At the Santa Fe plant, inspectors found that the business was slaughtering black pigs without the relevant documentation required for the animals. It was also recorded that the firm had not complied with the electronic payment voucher (VEP) before the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP), a requirement to request the authorisation of the work. Meanwhile in Buenos Aires, a cold store of pigs was detected that operated without authorisation at the time of the inspection or in the previous days. The inspectors estimated that 3400 animals were slaughtered irregularly. Additionally, inspectors also observed that the plant did not have records of its work, nor stamps that showed the statutory seals on its slaughtered cattle. The Secretary of the Government of Agribusiness said both cases were a “ violation of the meat law ”. “ As a result of these serious breaches of the current regulations, in both cases the suspension of the registration that enables trade was determined ,” said a spokesperson for Agribusiness Government. “ Establishments will need to correct their infractions, in order to provide consumers with products of certified quality and eradicate the evasion fiscal .” The Argentina Government of Agribusiness would not confirm when the two pork refrigerators would resume operations.
