Freedom for French dressing – FDA chops standard of identity for quintessential salad topping

French salad dressing will soon enjoy the same freedom as Italian, Russian and other dressings as FDA prepares to liberate it from a more than half century old standard of identity that the agency says, “no longer promotes honesty and fair dealings in the interest of consumers.”
