siggi’s, maker of the creamy Icelandic skyr yogurt, which is thick, high in protein and milder than Greek yogurt, is kicking off the year with a splash of flavor: Tropical Yuzu.
The limited-time skyr flavor blends bright notes of the citrus yuzu with hints of mango and pineapple, according to the company.
With 15 grams of protein, 11 grams of sugar and free of artificial flavors and artificial sweeteners, the small-batch release offers a flavor-forward way to start the year while staying on-trend with health-conscious consumers, says siggi’s Brand Director David Greci.
The launch comes as the global yogurt category continues to grow. According to Innova Market Insights’ Global Yogurt Trends 2025 report, 48% of consumers buy yogurt because they perceive it as healthy, surpassing taste as a primary driver.
Protein and low-fat claims are increasingly prominent, while no-added-sugar and lactose-free claims are gaining traction. Fruit flavors remain dominant, but indulgent and premium profiles, including dessert-inspired flavors and caramel/honey notes, are also on the rise, according to Innova.

How siggi’s balances curiosity and accessibility
siggi’s approach to flavor development draws inspiration from trends outside yogurt and internal experimentation, Greci said.
“We look at what’s trending outside the yogurt category, experiment with flavor profiles, and make sure it’s balanced. With Tropical Yuzu, we wanted to keep it bright but not too tart, pairing it with other fruits to create a smooth, approachable taste,” he explained.
The seasonal small-batch program gives siggi’s flexibility to experiment without the pressure of year-round performance, while making trendy ingredients more accessible and still align with “our simple-ingredient philosophy,” he notes.
siggi’s also leans on sampling and internal R&D to fine-tune flavors, ensuring they hit the right balance between trend-forward and approachable for consumers, Greci added.
Simplicity at the core of innovation
Even as brands push flavor boundaries, health remains a top priority. Innova notes that pairing active health messaging with enjoyable taste is central to yogurt innovation.
“Even lesser-known fruits like yuzu, when they come from real fruit, fit within our simple, natural definition. This approach allows us to have an adventurous flavor and still stay simple. Consumers do see that as healthy,” Greci said.
Part of a broader seasonal vision
Tropical Yuzu continues a lineage of siggi’s seasonal releases, from 2025’s Spiced Pear & Fig to perennial fan-favorite Pumpkin & Spice, and complements the brand’s broader portfolio, which includes pouches, drinkable yogurt, nonfat skyr and plant-based options.
