Treatt has launched a natural new raspberry flavour that it says is
wholly distilled from fresh fruit.

Raspberry Treattarome 9845, the latest addition to the firm's range of 100 per cent natural, FTNF (From the Named Food) distillates, has been developed to provide an authentic raspberry flavour for a variety of food and beverage applications.

Raspberry Treattarome 9845 is produced from top grade raspberries using Treatt's proprietary distillation techniques to guarantee maximum flavour entrapment.

It provides a natural, fresh raspberry front end with some seedy notes and a fruity, slightly jammy finish for a full-bodied raspberry profile. At different dosages, Raspberry Treattarome 9845 delivers varying levels of flavour intensity depending on individual requirements.

For example, at 0.1 per cent, when used as the sole flavouring, an intense raspberry character with creamy, floral notes predominates. At 0.05 per cent or less, it imparts a fruity, berry character.

The clear appearance and water solubility of Raspberry Treattarome 9845 make it a versatile flavour ingredient, suitable for use in dairy products, soft drinks, fruit juices, flavoured waters, teas and alcoholic beverages.

Other successful beverage applications include dairy and alcoholic drinks, juices and fruit punches.

In addition, the relatively high levels of hexanol, cis-3-hexenol, 2-heptanol, linalool, gerianiol and beta ionone make Raspberry Treattarome 9845 an effective flavour to blend with tea.

So-called super fruits such as raspberries could prove to be the success story of 2006, according to Innova Market Insights. And the analyst says that the increasing popularity of berries and berry flavours in recent years is now extending to other less well-known super fruits.

Berry flavours have been popular for a number of years, with initial interest in summer fruits, such as strawberries and raspberries. This has gradually diversified to include fruits marketed on a health platform, such as cranberries and blueberries.

Raspberry Treattarome 9845 is the latest addition to Treatt's expanding portfolio of Treattarome ingredients. Other products in the range include blueberry, mango, banana and kiwi varieties.

Treatt is an independent ingredients supplier to the flavour and fragrance industries. It manufactures and supplies a vast inventory of products, including essential oils and their natural fractions, and aromatic chemicals.
