Metal detector designed for sausage processors

A new metal detector is designed specifically for sausage processors, providing a compact system that fits in tight spaces.

Contaminant detection is a key part of food production processes and safety, especially in plants using machines with many moving parts for manufacturing. Disruption further down the processing line can occur if contaminants are not removed, which can also lead to costly recalls. Mettler-Toledo Safeline said its HDS Pipeline metal detector is designed for full integration with leading vacuum filler machines and other process equipment. A single vertical gas strut allows workers to adjust the height of the detector head. Large castors make the machine mobile. Safeline's patented Internal Cancellation Field technology provides a shorter throughput pipe that reduces product creaming and also results in a compact system that easily fits in restricted spaces, the company claimed. The system's colour touch screen interface offers set-up routines and inspection process control. An Ethernet connection allows for remote management and monitoring of the process. The HDS Pipeline has a stainless steel finish and is sealed to IP69K standards for withstanding the high temperature, high washdown environment of the meat industry, the company claimed. Accessories are available to suit and support leading vacuum filler machines, such as throughput tubes, reject valves, and twister extension shafts. The HDS Pipeline design can be configured to suit continuous, twister, or clipper sausage applications, the company claimed.
