New MGPI officer to drive ingredients business

MGPI has appointed Don Coffey as an officer of the company, taking on the leadership of the ingredients business.

Dr Coffey joined MGP Ingredients 15 months ago and became executive vice president of its ingredient solutions business segment in June.

Tim Newkirk, MGPI president and chief executive officer, said: “His strong leadership and bias for action have enabled us to accelerate critical initiatives in our research and commercialization activities.

“Don's strong technology background and general management skills are essential to implementing our ingredient strategy of developing innovation-based partnerships with our customers.”

Dr Coffey has a Ph.D. degree in food science from Michigan State University. Prior to joining MGPI, he spent most of his professional career with the Dow Chemical Co.
