The man in charge...
Plant manager Mark Huber knows a thing or two about sucralose production. He was there from the very beginning back in 1998/9 when the McIntosh facility was getting off the ground, and rapidly progressed up the ranks at the plant until he got an offer he couldn't refuse and flew over to Singapore to work at sucralose factory number two. Back in 2011, however, he got another offer he couldn't refuse - to come back to the Deep South and get McIntosh back up and running again - in record time.
Running a site like this, which is a 24-7 operation, is not for the faint-hearted, he admits. "It's like being a doctor. You're always on call."
