Peanuts in the US diet
Analysis of National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data shows that the biggest consumers of peanut butter are children under the age of 11 and the over 60s, said Alanna Moshfegh (pictured), research leader in the food surveys research group at USDA’s agricultural research service.
Meanwhile, the percentage of American consumers eating peanut butter and peanuts as snacks has also increased in recent years, while the amount they eat in one sitting has also gone up, she said.
