Doug McMillon to become Walmart CEO in February
From the world's biggest soft drinks company to its biggest retailer... Our next appointment is at Walmart, which has just announced plans to promote Doug McMillon, the CEO of its international operations, to group chief executive in February.
McMillon, who will replace current CEO Mike Duke, joined Wal-Mart in 1984 after taking a job in a US distribution center. Between 2006 and 2009, he was president and CEO of Sam's Club. In 2009, he took charge of operations outside the US.
Duke will stay on as chairman of the executive committee of the board and remain as an advisor to McMillon for a year. Walmart will announce McMillon's successor as CEO of its international arm in January.
