Keynote: What will the food supply chain look like in 2050?
Sun 22, 8:30-10:15am: First, we recommend getting up bright and early Sunday (after a few drinks on Bourbon Street the night before) and heading to the Morial Convention Center for the keynote presentation from former Trader Joe’s president Doug Rauch.
Rauch, who retired from Trader Joe`s in 2008 after 31 years, is currently working on a non-profit solution to the issues of food waste and hunger, and will address the following questions:
- How will the growing population be fed in 2050?
- What will be the likely impacts on production and distribution of food?
- How will global transport and distribution networks change?
- Will patents and technological know-how be used to help or hinder the spread of food production and distribution solutions?
