The supplier offers smaller quantities starting at 1 pound, providing more runway for small startup companies without the burden of large upfront investments.
“It makes it really easy for some of those smaller companies as they are developing and working on their brand that they are not saddled with having to purchase a very large MOQ of a specific blend that they may or may not need,” Carrie Potaczek, director of business development, NutriFusion, told FoodNavigator-USA.
NutriFusion offers its own non-GMO proprietary blends that feature vitamins, minerals, fruits and vegetables for food and beverages. The company also provides customized blends for brands looking for a specific nutrient profile.
Recently, NutriFusion became the supplier for DrinkTodo’s meal replacement breakfast smoothie which supports weight loss, muscle building, recovery and gut health, according to DrinkTodo. The smoothie contains NutriFusion 21 vitamin and mineral blend, including spinach, broccoli, kale, shiitake mushrooms and sunflower seeds, among others, to boost the smoothie’s nutrient content and deliver “100% of the daily value of those 21 vitamins and minerals in as little as 491 milligrams,” without impacting taste, Potaczek said.
She added, “It is very easy to incorporate in formulations [and] does not take up a lot of space.”
Providing a simple, plant-based label for brands
NutriFusion's blend options aligns with consumer preferences for natural ingredients and can be listed as fruits and vegetables on the label, she said.
“The great thing about our [blends] is we are taking those nutrients directly from fruits and vegetables. So, it gives people peace of mind that they are eating something that they would be getting if they ate that fruit and vegetable directly,” she said.
NutriFusion allows brands to label their products as delivering the nutrient equivalent of a certain number of servings of fruits and vegetables, Potaczek said. This can be especially beneficial for products aimed at children, helping parents ensure their kids consume essential nutrients without needing them to eat the actual fruits and vegetables, she added.
