Baobab Foods uses hand-harvesting to protect trees
Baobab Foods, a major marketer for the same-named superfruit that is sweeping the food industry, “is committed to socially-responsible and sustainable harvesting of baobab, and has pioneered best-practice forestry techniques with its partners, including techniques like hand-harvesting from wild trees,” Stephan Broburg, general manager of Baobab Foods, said. He added: “The company is committed to working with local harvesters by creating sustainable income for women in southern Africa, helping provide opportunities to uplift themselves from poverty with cash income for their harvested fruit to in turn feed their families and gain access to medical care and education for their children.”
