Aquaculture... hiding its light under a bushel?
While debates about feeding the planet are often dominated by plant-based foods, insects or cultured meat, aquaculture is often unfairly overlooked, claimed speakers at an education session on Wednesday morning in which successive speakers claimed that aquaculture should be at the center of any debate about sustainable food production.
Farmed fish are a great source of protein and heart-healthy fats, and produced in a responsible manner, they have a lower environmental impact than terrestrial agriculture, claimed George Lockwood, former president of the World Aquaculture Society.
