Verve ReMIX goes head to head with energy giants
Vemma Nutrition Co. rolled out Verve ReMIX, a premium ready-to-drink energy beverage that looks to pull directly from the energy drink-buying consumer segment.
At $2 per can, Verve ReMIX is Vemma’s “first product priced to compete head-to-head with the global market leader who sold over 5.3 billion cans last year with almost $1 billion spent in advertising and promotions," founder and CEO BK Boreyko said. "We bring a much healthier option at the same price. The leading competitor has about 26 grams of sugar per 8-ounce serving while ReMIX only has 5."
In addition to 5g organic cane sugar, each can of Verve ReMIX contains 45 calories and 80 mg of natural caffeine. The beverage is also formulated with the superfruit mangosteen, 12 full spectrum vitamins and essential plant-sourced minerals. It’s gluten free and does not contain any artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, artificial flavors, or high fructose corn syrup.
US energy drink sales growth slumped to its lowest pace in a year in the month ending May 10, 2014, exemplified by Red Bull, which posted just 2.5% growth in sales for the period. A solid performance by Monster (+10.5% dollar sales growth) boosted the category overall as the brand continues to gain on the leader Red Bull. (See more sales figures here.)
