Pasta Chips bring baked pasta to the snack food aisle
Who says pasta doesn’t make for the perfect snack? The founder of Vintage Italia’s Pasta Chips thinks these Tuscan-inspired chips could be a $100mn brand.
Made with semolina flour, ancient grains, and Italian herbs, Pasta Chips have 4g of protein, are cholesterol-free , and contain 60% less fat than potato chips and 20% less fat than pita chips. They’re also Kosher and GMO free. The five available flavors are inspired by the sauces and tastes of Italy: Marinara, Alfredo, Spicy Tomato Basil, Garlic Olive Oil, and Mediterranean Sea Salt flavors.
Pasta Chips creator Jerry Bello, who also founded Veggie Straws maker Sensible Portions, was inspired for the innovative snack idea during a trip to Tuscany. (Read his interview with FoodNavigator-USA here). Pasta Chips first hit shelves in September 2013 but are now sold in retailers nationwide, from Roundy’s and Shoprite to Safeway, Target, Von’s, Albertson’s, Harris Teeter and Randall’s.
