J. Tech Sales now exclusive distributor for Novozymes’ enzymes sold into the juice, wine, and olive oil industries in US and Canada

J. Tech Sales has struck a deal to become the exclusive distributor for Novozymes’ enzymes sold into the juice, wine, and olive oil industries in the US and Canada.

J Tech Sales, which has been working with Novozymes on other products since 2006, has research and laboratory facilities at its HQ in Boca Raton, Florida, and sales, technical support, and warehousing services throughout North America.

The world’s largest provider of enzyme and microbial technologies, Novozymes is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, with a North American HQ in Franklinton, North Carolina. Its North American operation, which employs more than 1,200 people, operates the USA’s largest multi-purpose enzyme manufacturing facility in North Carolina, and opened a second enzyme facility in Nebraska in 2012.

Enzymes - which are widely used in food manufacturing for everything from breaking down apple fibres, making the fruit more soluble and easier to press into juice; to altering the structure of the starch in bread so it retains more moisture - are manufactured at scale via the fermentation of micro-organisms such as the bacterium Bacillus subtilis and the fungus Aspergillus oryzae.
