Asia has been identified as the key target for growth and markets are clamouring to grow sales in the region.

At the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board Global Britain Conference earlier this month, Global Meat News caught up with US Meat Export Federation senior vice president Joel Haggard about US efforts to grow red meat sales in the Asian market.

During the chat, he explains the key drivers for the Asian red meat market including the misconception that it’s a young population, the growth of new retail channels, and how convenience is driving massive growth in the region and providing an opportunity for US producers.

He also discusses how social media has become an important marketing tool for efforts in China as well as the US’ competitors in the region and the opportunity brought about by the rise of African Swine Fever.
