The past two decades have seen an improvement in the quality of
people's diets designed to prevent heart disease, according to a
new study, which reveals an overall increase in fruit, vegetable
and grain consumption.

initiative to support the government's dietary guidelines, while at
the same time promoting products that meet certain nutrition
criteria.
The US government has released a reader-friendly brochure designed
to back up the MyPyramid nutritional guidelines, in the hope that
this will allow the guidelines to become accessible to a wider
range of consumers.
Every five years the Dietary Guidelines for Americans are updated
by the Department of Agriculture, and last week's offering stirred
up an interesting mixture of praise and concern from the US food
industry.
