Yet Bucchini said in his mind there had not been any really important positive health claim opinions in 2014, despite some good news on non-digestible carbohydrates and postprandial glycaemic responses.
“Overall, disappointingly, there has been little progress on the most challenging subjects for example, probiotics, botanicals, sports nutrition, on new types or format of evidence, or on new health claim concepts. The debate on whether dossiers are still too weak, or whether EFSA is unclear or inconsistent, will continue to rage in 2015,” he said.
