Oat beta glucan denied addition to national list
Not every motion presented to the board passed, however. Three motions were tabled and two failed. The first one to fail was a petition to add to list of approved non-organic ingredients oat beta glucan, which supplements foods with fiber. While it is made with a no chemical or synthetic solvents, the board refused to recommend NOP add the ingredient because it did not see why it could not be made from organic oats. A subcommittee of the board also felt there were alternatives currently available that are organic.
