Kids LiveWell program now rolled out to 50,000 restaurants
To be fair, many restaurants are already working harder to provide better options, especially for kids, said National Restaurant Association senior director, nutrition, Dr Joy Dubost, who developed the fast-growing Kids LiveWell initiative.
The standard - to which more than 150 brands and 50,000 outlets from Applebee’s to Arby’s now adhere - sets standards for kids’ meals that encourage firms to provide more whole grains, lean protein, fruits and veggies; and less sugar, sodium and unhealthy fats.
