Swiss chocolatier Lindt & Sprüngli has recruited a new CEO, while US giant Hershey has named its chief operating officer.

The Lindt board agreed last Friday (June 3) to promote its current group CFO Dr Dieter Weisskopf to group CEO.

Incumbent Lindt president and CEO Ernst Tanner will focus on his role as executive vice chairman by the end of 2016.

Hershey also last week named Michele Buck executive vice president and COO, effective immediately.

Buck previously served as president of Hershey’s North America business. She will continue to oversee the North American operation, but Central and South America have been added to her remit.

Her appointment comes as the Hershey group posted $513m reported net income in 2015, a 39% year-on-year decline.

Weisskopf’s promotion at Lindt comes as the group reported record 2015 net income, up 11.2% year-on-year to CHF 381m ($384m).

In April, Lindt & Sprüngli USA CEO Thomas Linemayr left the company to pursue a new challenge. He was replaced by Lindt USA’s former vice president of sales Daniel Studer.
