Close on the heels of local rival Danone, Lactalis held on to bronze in the Rabobank Dairy Top 20.

The French dairy reported dairy sales revenue of US$19.4bn (€14.6bn) in 2013, up from US$18bn ($14bn) in 2012.

"Once again, giants Nestlé, Danone and Lactalis top the list, showing that the world's largest dairy companies are reasonably entrenched," commented Tim Hunt, global dairy strategist, Rabobank.
