Lifeway moves into new territory with kefir and farmer cheese in cups
Lifeway Foods, meanwhile, is shaking up the dairy case with spoonable flavored kefir set to go head to head with ‘mix-in’ products from Fage and Chobani Flip; and farmer cheese (pressed cottage cheese – plain or blended with fruit) that will compete with Quark and blended yogurts, as well as new single-serve, 'snackable' cottage cheese brands such as good culture.
Both contain probiotic cultures and no carrageenan, guar gum, or soy lecithin, and use milk from grass-fed cows that are not treated with antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones. The products are cultured after pasteurization to ensure that the cultures are 100% live and active, adds the company.
