Protein... the macronutrient of the moment
While most Americans are not short of protein, it is definitely the macronutrient of the moment if the number of brands flagging their high protein credentials at Expo West is anything to go by. As for sources, pea protein was a big trend this year, with Bolthouse adding 10g per serving in its new plant protein milk (launching in summer); Ripple expanding its pea-based beverage portfolio with a new half & half product launching in May; and Califia Farms adding pea and rice protein to its new line of almondmilks with maca (launching now).
