The recalls that have hit the headlines in 2012
November - Canadian meat processing plant shut
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) temporarily suspended the licence of meat processing company, Capital Packers Inc., after listeria was found at one of its plants in November.
The suspension, lifted this month, resulted because the firm did not have adequate controls in place to meet federal food safety standards.
Capital Packers recalled Capital brand 300 gram ham sausages and Compliments brand 375 gram ham sausages after a positive listeria sample was found on the sleeve of an employee at the Edmonton, Alberta plant.
