How much do consumers care about whether they are getting the nutrients they need?
And finally, the big question, how much do consumers care about all this?
Asked how concerned they are by the possibility that they are "not getting all of the nutrients and food components that are needed for good health", three quarters reported some level of concern, but only 14% reported feeling "very concerned".
Not surprisingly, perhaps, women are more likely than men to be very or somewhat concerned, while older consumers, meanwhile, "are more likely to be not at all concerned about not getting all of the nutrients and food components needed for good health", notes IFIC.
"This difference holds even among those who take vitamins/supplements."
