SHAUN ROBERTS, CEO, KonaRed: ‘Coffee fruit is the king of the superfruits’
KonaRed CEO Shaun Roberts is on a mission to turn the coffee fruit - the one part of the coffee plant most growers aren’t interested in - into the next big thing in beverages.
And so far, he’s doing rather a good job, having secured listings for KonaRed in stores across the US and Canada (from Sprouts and Whole Foods to Walmart), and struck a licensing deal with nutraceuticals powerhouse VDF Futureceuticals that is building the IP and science behind coffee fruit bioactives.
“We’ve always believed that coffee fruit is the king of the superfruits and we think we can do for coffee fruit what POM did for pomegranates and Sambazon did for acai," says Roberts, who is based in Hawaii.
