Another firm hoping to make a splash at Expo West is Australian health foods company Super Sprout, which is taking its fruit and vegetable powders to the US market.
Super Sprout’s freeze-dried fruit and vegetable powders, which contain no preservatives or fillers, are classified as foods, not dietary supplements, and “should be ideally located in the produce section”, CEO Melinda Richards told FoodNavigator-USA.
“Unlike most powdered food products on the market – Super Sprout is freeze dried powder which ensures that the cellular integrity of the food remains intact locking in all nutrition. It also means that there is no heat applied to the food during the process, which also assists to maintain all the nutrition and goodness.
"The whole plant is used which makes it much more effective than juicing where much of the fiber is lost. Nutritional and scientific testing has shown that consuming these powders is just as good as eating fresh.”
